Green Family

BJ and Mary Kathryn Green

For Mary Kathryn Green '92 and BJ Green, Lovett has been a defining presence for more than 30 years. As an alum, Mary Kathryn experienced a Lovett education shaped by strong values and a close-knit community-an experience now shared by the Green's three children, Kate '21, Myers '23, and Will '25. That deep, multi-generational connection inspired the Greens to leave a legacy for Lovett by making a bequest in their will. As BJ explains, they believe institutions like Lovett play a critical role in forming not only well-educated students but individuals grounded in character, integrity, and a lifelong love of learning.

The Greens chose to direct their planned gift toward an endowed fund supporting faculty, reflecting their belief that great teachers are the foundation of any exceptional school. "We believe strongly that teachers, faculty, and coaches are the lifeblood of any school," BJ shares. "As much as we like to see nice campuses and stadiums, getting highly talented educators at the school is paramount."

Planned giving offered the Greens a meaningful way to support Lovett's future while balancing the realities many families face. Like many parents, BJ says they were not always able to give at the level they hoped through annual giving, but an estate commitment allowed them to make a significant impact over time. They hope their gift will help ensure that future Lovett students are guided by outstanding educators who can prepare them to lead with wisdom and integrity in an increasingly complex world. "Our society needs thoughtful leaders who can navigate rapid change," BJ reflects, "and schools like Lovett are essential to developing that next generation."
